The Society of Diplomates

In 1946, Harrisburg area physicians established an organization with the following goals:

  • Improve the quality of medical services.
  • Promote the mutual interests of Board-certified physicians in the area.
  • Become better acquainted with fellow members.
These charter members established that "a formal dinner meeting will be held annually, at which time the membership will be addressed by a speaker of outstanding reputation". For over seventy-five years, medical professionals from the Harrisburg area have come together for an evening of fellowship and learning. Membership is open to any board-certified physician in Central Pennsylvania, and new members are always welcome. To apply as a new member, please click the "Member Application" button at the top of this site.

The Society of Diplomates is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment where every individual is treated with respect and dignity. We unequivocally oppose discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws. Our organization is dedicated to promoting equality, embracing diversity, and ensuring a workplace or community where everyone can thrive without fear of prejudice or bias.

Faced with a physical challenge and an uncertain future, Eric made a promise to himself to run an Ironman Triathlon. On his journey from the hospital bed in southern California to the finish line in Kona Hawaii, he realized that the challenge and adversity he was up against and the practical techniques he used to reach the finish line could be used against the challenges we all entertain. He now speaks to and inspires people to embrace their challenges. When not training, racing and delivering inspiration, Eric can be found with his wife, Rachel, and three children.
